Francophonie Festival
The Francophonie Festival is a month-long celebration of French-speaking culture in the nation’s capital. Run by the Smithsonian Institute and more than 70 Francophone embassies and local nonprofits, Francophonie is one of the biggest festivals in the DC area.
Because the Francophonie Festival has a diverse, international focus, the print design had to have a playful and multicultural feel. The brochure design features bright colors and carefully chosen images and fonts in a clean, grid-based layout. The events are organized by category–with individual panels devoted to each one–and chronologically within categories. The colorful calendar spread provides an easy, at-a-glance view of festival events.
Postcards were distributed preceding each of the three major events. These events are highlighted with bright graphics and bold typography on the front of the cards, while a complete listing of the festival’s events occupies the reverse side.
